Henry Elmore, 82, of 811 E. Wabash Ave, died Monday morning in Culver Hospital. Mr. Elmore had been employed by Ben Hur Life Association for over 45 years before retiring about two years ago. Before that he was a cook at the Crawford Hotel Restaurant. He attended school at Greencastle and Crawfordsville and was a member of the Bethel AME Church and former member of Masonic Lodge. He was born July 12, 1888, in Vincennes to Thomas and Rose Bridges Elmore. In 1909 he married Laverne Hawkins who died in 1913. His second marriage was to Bessie Hill in 1931. She died in 1950. In 1951 he married Mrs. Lula Hyatt Arnold. Surviving are his widow; two sons, Wm. Elmore and Faye ELmore of Crawfordsville, a stepdaughter, Mrs. Luther Rankin of Crawfordsville; three stepsons, Irven Arnold of Ann Arbor, Mich; William Arnold of South Bend and Homer Burton of Jacksonville, Ill; a sister, Mrs. Elizabeth Strain of Chicago; 10 grandchildren, and 27 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two sisters and a son. Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Bright & Burkhart Funeral Home, Rev. Anderson Sanders and Rev. LO Lapsley of Indianapolis will officiate. Burial in Oak Hill Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 2 p.m. Tuesday. - kbz
